Spanish Invests HV Transmission
Spanish electric grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE) will invest 3.221 billion euros ($3.6 billion) to develop high-voltage transmission networks and power system operations to achieve energy conversion throughout Spain.
According to REE, this amount accounts for 53% of the total investment budget of 6 billion euros in the 2018-2022 strategic plan.
The €3.2 billion investment will be divided as follows: 1.538 billion euros will be used to integrate clean energy; 908 million euros to enhance the reliability and supply security of the transmission system; 434 million euros will be used to expand technology and digital tools; 2.15 One hundred million euros will be used for storage projects; €54 million will be used for energy control systems.
REE said that the development plan for 2019 and beyond contains many projects, some of which are already in the implementation stage, including the interconnection of the grid between Biscayne and France, and the absorption of new renewable energy projects in Spain.
